Nonsurgical treatments

Nonsurgical treatments like fillers, neuromodulators, chemical peels, and energy-based devices have fundamentally changed the nature of cosmetic surgery in the last 15 years. Since Botox® was approved for cosmetic use in 2002, it has quickly become the single most commonly performed plastic surgery procedure in Dallas and Frisco. Similarly, fillers such as hyaluronic acid, and laser hair removal or skin rejuvenation have exploded in popularity. And why not? These procedures offer an effective, although temporary, solution to the most common effects of aging. Wrinkles, skin sagging, and uneven pigmentation can now be addressed without surgery.

Nonsurgical procedures hold the promise of a minimally invasive and low cost approach with a quick recovery. But you should proceed with care, because there are many pitfalls in the use of these techniques. For your safety, it is critical to choose a fully trained plastic surgeon to perform these procedures. It is important to understand anatomy, medication effects, and the technology behind the devices to use these techniques safely.

Botox® and other neuromodulators

By far the most popular nonsurgical cosmetic treatment, neuromodulators can quickly and easily smooth out many facial wrinkles and lines.

Fillers

There are numerous filler options, but the most popular are probably the hyaluronic acids (HAs). Most fillers are temporary, and slowly reabsorbed by your body.

Chemical peels

Using chemicals to peel the outer layers and reveal the fresh, new, smoother skin underneath, have been used since at least the late 1800s, and have become very predictable and safe. Several options exist, from simple at-home treatments, to light peels done in the office, to deep peels performed in an operating room.

Lasers

Focused, precise electromagnetic energy delivered into the skin can be used to reduce hair, improve sunspots or sun damaged skin, and even treat wrinkles.

Kybella®

One of the newest nonsurgical treatments available, this is a fat-dissolving chemical that can be used to tighten and lift the neck.
